Project Overview
Metafence were appointed by a principal contractor to deliver specialist fencing works as part of the development of their new rollercoaster attraction. The project included the installation of both 2.0 m and 2.4 m high Metafence “Extreme” 358 mesh fencing around the ride boundary, providing a secure, anti-climb solution to protect guests and staff. In addition, a bespoke timber fencing system was designed and installed to complement the attraction’s themed environment, ensuring the safety infrastructure blended seamlessly with the overall aesthetic. All works were carefully coordinated with the park’s construction and operations teams to maintain safety and minimise disruption during the rollercoaster build.

Why They Chose Metafence

Metafence were chosen to deliver the fencing package thanks to our long-standing familiarity with the theme park and our proven ability to design and install fencing solutions that integrate seamlessly within themed environments. Working collaboratively with the park’s design team, we developed bespoke systems tailored to complement each area’s aesthetic while maintaining safety and functionality. Our strong reputation for reliability, attention to detail, and understanding of the park’s operational needs made Metafence the trusted choice for this project.

Work Completed

  • Installed 2.4m high Metafence “Extreme” 358 mesh for site perimeter
  • Bespoke timber system
  • Substation boundary fencing
  • Supplied and fitted multiple access gates to match the installed systems
  • Managed the works in phased sections, maintaining site security at all times

Challenges & Solutions

  • Soft Ground Conditions: Several sections of the route crossed soft or unstable ground. To maintain a solid and level fence line, post depths were increased and concrete foundations enlarged for additional stability.
  • Sloped Terrain: Where the fence followed varying gradients around the ride boundary, stepped panels and selective trenching were used to eliminate gaps and maintain consistent height and security.
  • Restricted Access During Ride Testing: Work had to be carefully scheduled around rollercoaster testing periods, requiring flexible planning and coordination to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Tight Timescales and Multiple Trades On-Site: With numerous contractors working simultaneously to meet the project deadline, clear communication and sequencing were critical. Metafence worked closely with other teams to deliver the installation efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Results & Benefits

  • Secure Ride Perimeter: The 358 mesh system delivers a strong, anti-climb barrier ensuring guest and staff safety around the new rollercoaster.
  • Seamless Themed Appearance: The bespoke timber fencing complements the park’s design aesthetic while maintaining functionality.
  • Operational Efficiency: Careful coordination minimised disruption to other construction and testing activities.
  • Long-Term Performance: Reinforced foundations and durable materials provide a low-maintenance, future-proof solution for the attraction.
